I think we should buy/rent that battery welding machine from Alta at a special friends & family price and start stuffing our own batteries if/when they go bad.

Place a large order for plastic with Acerbis.

Figure out why a broken display sometimes disables the bike. All we really need from a display is a battery status and a fault light.

After having this new technology why would I want want to go back to a bike with antiquated technology.
It would be like riding a 2019 RMZ450 and selling it and getting a 1970 TM400.

Going on 4 weeks since Alta stopped production, I still feel the way I did and plan on keeping my EXR for as long as she runs. (y):ricky::cool:

Basically, every Alta (former) dealer have a laptop with the software.
How useful will it be to us getting one of these computers?
It's not like they have somewhere to return it to.

There are a few good sw/hw engineers in our forum ...
Exactly. They are (almost) all here:

Not useful yet, unless we want to break the law and hurt the chances of Alta being bought out.

Alta Motors is still in business, their servers are running, and dealers can still use those laptops. And Alta can still ask for them to be returned.
hands are tied until we find out who owns the IP ... go ride or have a beer
Yes, this is my plan too.

I'm still going to ride my EXR like the day I bought it. If it breaks then oh well. I'll figure out what to do then, but I'm really really hoping we can make lemonade from the lemons that got dropped on our heads. This is still the greatest bike I've ever ridden or owned and I can't imagine life without it right now. Alta did some amazing work and the universe shouldn't let something like this go that easy.

If any of the former employees are in here, please keep the faith alive. I'll learn whatever I can and help if possible, but these machines mean a lot more than just 2 wheels and scoot down the road to people like myself.
