I made some mods to my shrouds to make them more comfy on my knees than the stock, sea-urchin shrouds.
They have the added benefit of improving grip, but they do tend to whistle a bit at high speeds. And I'm going through riding pants and knee braces like gangbusters, though.
If you invert the bias of the panel, you will have better grip when landing. That might improve performance, but may further decrease the lifespan of your riding gear...
