Just got my Alta mxr and I want to race it so bad but don't want to thrash the irreplaceable plastics. So I'm looking for beat up or CRACKED plastics to put on just for racing. Does anyone know any good methods for major repair or damage prevention? Please let me know thanks

Honestly, most people are saving and or reusing plastic that most of us would have tossed at the end of the season. I reused my yellow rear fender which was pretty beat by sanding out the scratches and wrapping it in white vinyl. You'd never know it wasn't a new white fender.

Yup, 3M Controltac vinyl. It's not as thick as the MX bike vinyl, but it's stuck on there and I wouldn't hesitate to put the bike graphics over the stuff.

It wouldn't prevent cracking, that's for sure. My point was that we don't have the relative luxury of buying new plastics and tossing the old stuff!
