Just to reiterate this is in regards to a housing for existing raw boards, not an all new unit or a display vault. The problem we are working to solve is we have display boards available, but there are no housings for them in the event of a totally crunched display unit. I asked about how many owners regularly use their display buttons because we have a housing designed that is very robust and can be produced in low volumes. The one drawback to this design is that there will not be a convenient push button to access the hour meter or switch between kph/mph. More on this to come.

Is the intent to sell the display boards with the new housing to those with busted displays? If so, is this a plug and play replacement or would there need to be some parts sourced from the original display?

Yep! Its a direct replacement. Before Alta was going under, we were creating a newer "V2" display. The display was to be built in house, but did not fully materialize. People with busted displays, or want a spare (missed out on the group buy).

To @snydes point, parts exist for the V2 display and this allows to have a very comfortable supply of future displays/repairs. The V1 is not the funnest to repair/support and this project lets us simply that.

Due to the fact, that there are more buttons than functions in the V1 display, it would be nice to put some gimmicks into the new diplay, like a clock, laptimer, manual stopwatch, Rangemeter, tripcounter...etc!

There is no new display, only new housing for existing V2 boards that function exactly like the V1’s.

So the V2 boards do not have the LCD display on them, but simply allow the bike to think there is a normal display correct? So you would have to use MT to determine your bikes SOC right?

No, the V2 boards look and function nearly identical. Rashid had also referred to a CAN spoofer that is also being developed which would allow the bike to operate without a display unit entirely.
