Not sure what all the problems are. It's a tight T30. I bet you used a T27 and stripped it. I had no issues.

Can you tell me the thickness of the head of the bolt you used to shim the kickstand? Also any pictures directly from the side with the bike on the kickstand?

You could always use a herringbone gear to avoid that. Really not cheap!
