For my hard enduro type riding, I would be willing to pay additional fee for a smaller and lighter battery. 3 hours of my type of riding deplete about 50% battery (slow gnarly terrain). Perhaps make a lighter hard enduro version, and heavier mx /trail version with longer range.

On paper, It's exactly what I am after - a lightweight Redshift. I doubt, however, its quality.

Perfect. From your & others experience, seems like the Varg is a high end motocross tool, making it in some areas (suspension mainly) less suitable for trail and hard enduro.

From previous experience with Zero bikes - don't rush into updating the moment a new update arrive.

Stark main pitfall for my type of riding is its weight (similar to Alta). If Dust is significantly lighter, than it will get my interest, and many other enduro riders.

you raced against the Cake Kalk. the new model is called Bukk. much more dirt oriented with a 30 second battery swap. cool bike.

This is their newer model, started shipping this week. Meant for off road conditions. Hopefully they solved the former model's issues.

The new Cake Bukk may be a good candidate - Ultra Bee size & weight with top of the line components like WP / Ohlins suspension. pricy though.

And I am still surprised why not many more riders grab a used Alta for half the price of a Varg and tear the single tracks with it. Alta's suspension is better for enduro riding than the Varg's which is motocross oriented (very stiff). Weight is about the same. Range is 10-15% better on the...

It only happens when the battery is over 90% charged. So I don't fully charge it.

Also had the Oset. it is a much cheaper made bike with brushed (!) motor and lower quality components. the EM machines are in a different league.

The Escape will be a high quality model, that's for sure. Only thing I dislike about it is the low voltage battery (48v) they use, as opposed to the 72v pack of the Ultra bee. Higher voltage systems are more efficient, and usually run cooler. I guess the 48v is for legal and homologation reasons.

exactly. In slow technical hard enduro riding, these electrics last forever. same experience with my Alta.

I'd leave the spare Alta parts for Alta riders to keep their bikes running. So many other electric motors out there.

Chain is in good condition? Not rubbing on anything? Gear oil level is fine (can be seen through the motor gear cover window)?
