New bike day!!! First customer delivery worldwide!

Bryan, I have that exact same scale and it's always a pain as it sometimes "locks on" to a number before the weights actually stable. I try to quickly lift the front wheel on (while someone steadies the bike) and watch the readout to see if it swings before locking on. If so, try again. Then...

Brand new throttle cuts out occasionally, trying to kill me.

Rolling back the throttle changes the output voltage of the throttle into a range that confuses the system, so it shuts down. If you prevent the ability to go below the shutdown voltage it'll work, 100%. Mine did this and I never had an issue after my fix. Frankly, I'd do both. I also...

    General Mark911 moving to Ohio

Just one less person for people to turn to. You've got it covered, so they're (west coast) in good hands. Peace brother.

    General Mark911 moving to Ohio

We've already bought a property in Ashville. It's 12 acers farming land (flat and tilled). My plan is to build a few tracks just for fun. I'll need to buy a bobcat and some attachments, put in a watering system, etc. The front yard is about an acer of grass, so one of those big ass lawn...

    General Mark911 moving to Ohio

I'm saying goodbye to SoCal and hello to the Columbus area of Ohio. Bad news for the west coast Alta owners needed specialized diagnostic and repairs, but good new to the folks back east. Although I no longer own an Alta, I kept all my spare parts, packs, test station, repair equipment and...

Brand new throttle cuts out occasionally, trying to kill me.

Alta originally intended to provide extra "motor braking" when the throttle was turned backwards past the normal closed position. This never came to be, but the throttles still had the ability to turn slightly backwards and this caused the bike to shut off. The latest firmware was supposed to...

A pack DC-DC section dead after left charging.

You can look up the data sheet from the part number on that chip and test. Simply apply a couple volts to the switch lead and see if there's continuity between the other two leads. The fuse is obvious. Remember, you'll need to use a bit of solvent to remove the conformal coating first. Not...

Then check the DC-DC HV switch transistor.

A pack DC-DC section dead after left charging.

Before you do anything radical, check the fuses first!

A pack DC-DC section dead after left charging.

keeping all 8 solder joints fluid while you gently pry up the board is a tricky process. I've done it a dozen or more times so it can be done with the proper process. Remember to unscrew the contactors as they'll prevent the board from popping off.

    Stark Varg rear brake

I never touched my rear brake pedal after I got familiar with the LHRB EXCEPT in a rare panic situation when my years of gas bike instincts kicked in. Then I was glad to have both.

A Li-Ion cell is much more complicated (electrically) than a simple circuit where one could come to your conclusion that ohmic losses in terms of heat are directly proportional to the resistance. You can review a few reputable cell data sheets with different internal values showing cell...

Frankly, my experience, along with several other Alta owners here in SoCal, is that the Alta MXR is already competitive with the current crop of 450s power and speed wise. At least until you get into the really fast guys. If you are talking making the same power over a longer period (in MX...

Weight is like suspension, everyone has their stories and preferences. Unfortunately, I think that's just the beginning of the broken promises. Let's see how the battery pack performs when ridden hard on a HOT day. One of the issues with proving/disproving these promises is getting a rider...

    2019 mxr fast charger issue

You can "hot wire" the 12v bus voltage and at least get the dash to stay on and display any fault codes. I've described the hot wire procedure somewhere in one of my posts. The BMS shouldn't allow the battery to drop below the low voltage cutoff point. Unless there's a voltage/current...

The 100S is a "no changer" due to the total voltage requirement of the system. So, you are right, the only option is to reduce the parallel group count. Going from 4 to 3 is a big hit, 25% (the problem with using such large cells as it reduces design flexibility). Could the remaining cells...

I assumed all the improved "efficiencies" that Stark claims. Again, we'll soon know.

Based on math I did over two years ago on the Alta pack, I'd say the Varg will have the equivalent of maybe 1.1-1.2 gallons of fuel as a comparison to gas bikes. That may be enough for some and not enough for others as "your mileage may vary" as the automotive folks like to say. Also, based...

    We'll know pretty soon!

I know one AMA National Champ who did an "first hand" review of the bike and it was essentially a very positive writeup. Just by happenstance, I spoke to him about a year ago and he admitted the bike wasn't fast enough for competition in the upper levels of MX racing and that it was constantly...

    We'll know pretty soon!

As posted by one of the Varg representatives: Hi guys. I don't mean disrespect for Mark, but if you look back at his posts he's been pretty negative about the Varg. I would consider it borderline spreading FUD. To reiterate, what I've stated on this, and other forums was the following (at the...
