    2018 MXR Mods

I was loving the fatty front, it seemed to go right where I pointed it, climbed ruts nicely, cushy ride. The climbing ruts nicely can either be a pro or con depending though, sometimes it starts grabbing and climbing when you don't want it too, its amazing what a difference just a few mm's in...

    2018 MXR Mods

I had the Tubliss setup on my KTM 350 it worked ok, but too fiddly for me. Flatting hasn't been to much of an issue for me over the years. The few flats I've had were easily fixed on the trail, or I'd just ride them out, especially if its a rear flat. I think my longest flat ride was about 15...

    2018 MXR Mods

First ride on the KTM triples setup, 18” rear wheel, new Shinkos, all went well. I like the fatty front tire too. A vid of the mud ride here if interested: New Years Day Ride

    New Years Day Ride

Was sitting home on New Years Day bumming out, it had been pouring and howling winds all night long, raining for weeks, wanted to ride, but wasn't up for a mud ride in the rain and wind. Saw a friends post on Facebook, they're up at the property we ride at, no rain, no winds, clear skies...

    2020 NE 24hr Challenge! July 18th & 19st 2020 Team AltaOwnersForum.com

Birthday in Manhattan! Race in upstate! Upstate is beautiful, a nice drive. Brutally hot and humid in July, but beautiful, Lol. Manhattan restaurants, Broadway shows, shopping! Women love it! Win, win!

Solidworks using Alta in their ad

Very interesting thanks. Strange that they don't even mention that Alta is out of business though. I would imagine a lot of people that are not familiar with Alta that read that article (how many will that be?) will google Alta and be wondering what the heck?

    2018 MXR Mods

Ready to rock. If this rain will ever stop! Lol. That is one fat tire, Lol. I adjusted my bars to be rolled back a bit and now I need to adjust my bark busters down a little, I like them lower. Otherwise, all set, can't wait to try everything out, maybe tomorrow if its not pouring, so...

    2018 MXR Mods

This gap between the fork and the wheel spacer had me a bit concerned, I hadn't read of anyone dealing with this, I was worried the wheel was not secure. Had me scratching my head for a bit. Took the axle on and off a couple of times and after puzzling on it, was wondering if I had the wrong...

    2018 MXR Mods

The KTM triples waiting for install. Before installing them, I cleaned them up a bit, checked the bearings, and re-greased them. Alta uses a couple of o-rings in the steering stem, here is one, the other larger one goes on the steering neck itself. Stem test fit, looking good. This was a...

    2018 MXR Mods

Got the rear wheel installed, was stumped why my chain was so tight, was semi-freaking out, wondering what was wrong. Axle spacers were reversed. I seem to recall doing this years ago on another bike and having the same freak out. Don't do this, Lol. Next up was to install the KTM triples...

    2018 MXR Mods

Using info I learned here and online (thanks everyone!) I recently installed '14 KTM 500 EXC triple clamps as I noticed my stock Alta triples were the weaker 6061 Al ones and it appeared that the triple clamp pinch gap was narrowing. Besides getting some peace of mind, it will be easier for me...

Nearly lost my front fork! What is the right Torque?

I'm no expert on this mod, but I used '14 KTM 500 EXC triples, front wheel, axle, spacers, etc. That KTM triples offset is 20 mm and appears to fit fine, haven't tried riding it yet, but I expect no problems with the trail riding that I do. The Altas have an adjustable offset that is delivered...

EXR Battery Range 20 Miles - Normal ?

Same with my '18 MXR, and that is really milking it, last few miles wondering if its going to get me home. I was pretty disappointed to get about 26 miles up in the mountains, I probably could have gotten 30 or so out of it, but didn't want to run out of juice and have to walk miles back to my...

    Storm Bee

I'm thinking until someone has one in hand here in the US, we won't know anything real about it. The more I read about the lack of warranty and parts support, and changing components on the Light Bee, the less excited I am about the Storm Bee. Still hoping it will be a good product and sells well.

Nearly lost my front fork! What is the right Torque?

Just re-read your post, perhaps I misunderstood and you're going to torque to KTM specs and not use KTM parts. Oh well, either way, I'll leave this here in case anyone is interested: I think these are all of the parts needed to use the KTM triples on an MXR: KTM triple clamps (including stem)...

Nearly lost my front fork! What is the right Torque?

The Alta triple clamps are not the strongest, mine had very little space left in the gap when torqued down. I replaced the Alta triples with '14 KTM 500 triples. This mod requires the matching KTM axle, front wheel, and spacers as the KTM triples are not as wide as the Alta triples (fork tube to...

    Storm Bee

I'm not planning on purchasing a Storm Bee, but I am curious if Luna Cycle will be selling them. Luna has been really good about supporting the Sur Ron's, would be good if they did the same with the Storm Bee. I like the fact that they are a brick and mortar retailer that you could go to if you...

    2018 MXR Mods

Right on. I bought my MXR used and the previous owner had installed these 1 1/8” risers, I like them. Not sure if the rest of the bar clamp parts are stock Alta or not, but the current setup is working pretty good.
