203 miles from the stock Metzler!?!? I managed to get nearly 1000 from it, with a good mix of pavement and hard packed gravel road, and I'm not easy on the throttle.

Are you participating in burnout competition?
No, I just ride gnarly terrain that tears up tires. In all fairness, I could have pushed the Metzler another 60 miles or so before the center knobs were flushed with the tire casing. But it would have been a shitty 60 miles of reduced traction. I can't fathom how you got almost 1k miles out of your tire. I recently stumbled across a YT video where another Alta Owner had put his 3rd tire on at 500 miles, so based on that, I am in the ball bark for mileage on the stock Metzler.

Had a nice little 20 mile dual sport ride today to keep the batteries from sitting to long. Was really fun to get out on the EXR. Glad I got the EXR as its really nice to leave from the house for short ride. This bike is number 1. Put new handgaurds on it with the BPR triple clamp mounts. The only way to go.

I miss those high desert winter days, but it sure made me appreciate wearing good insulation. Or heated gear even more!

I want to apologize for not keeping this thread updated. I had total knee replacement surgery 1.5 weeks ago, and its been a painful do nothing experience. That said, I should be healed up and riding by Memorial day weekend or so.

I don't know whats going on, January 11, I was 274 pounds, I got up to 278 pounds, then cut back on the protien and calories in general, I went into surgery on Feb 11 weighing 259 pounds. This morning, I weighed 235 pounds. So the weight is coming down, but I haven't been in the gym at all, no protein or creatine supps, so the majority of the weight I have lost is water and lean body mass.

So while I'm on the mend, might as well do some work on the EXR. Got my skid/glide plate in from SXS, this is a really slick unit. Even in my current gimp mode, I estimate about 15 minutes of work ahead of me.

That looks like a good fit, I really like the extra protection up the front, may help keep off some of the mud buildup on the front of the battery, probably keep the rocks kicked up by the front tire from tearing up the battery case too.

Looks good.

Thanks Redwolf, those were my thoughts as well. Definitely better coverage over all, and easier to mount than the stock one.
