Looking at buying a 2017 alta, yellow bike. I am concerned about getting a replacement battery if needed. What can be obtained or can this one be repaired if I do have an issue?

Those A pack bikes don’t have the same issues as we have seen on the R packs, not to say there hasn’t been issues however. Last I knew there was a quantity of leftover A packs in private hands available for sale.

sorry for being new to this, but whats the difference in the packs? are the R packs better for racing?

Main differences lie in the cells that were used between the A packs and the R packs. Also the connectors on the packs make them not swappable with each other. In a racing application (well depends what kind of racing). If you search in the forums for the comparisons/differences there are some advantages to the R pack on the track.

Simply put, A pack bikes output a max of 42hp (map 4), R pack bikes output a max of 50hp (map 4). Range is roughly the same between the packs. Maps 1-3 are roughly the same between A pack and R pack bikes.
