Bang for the buck, that's going to be the best quiet inverter style unit on the market at this time.

If you don't mind more noise, the harbor freight preditor units have been very popular too.

You need at least 3600 running watts for the rapid charger. The B&S Q6500 is a great option. Regarding the HF generators, i had luck with my Predator 4000 for about 8 months or so and then it started acting up on me. I'm assuming because it only has 3200 running watts and the rapid charger really stresses the generator a lot.

So far, very little use, but I like my B&S Q6500. Got it shipped from Home Depot on sale, then applied some type of HD coupon they sent me, I think its as good as any medium price, medium output, medium quiet genset out there.

I have a harbor freight 8750 that works well. Loud but doesn't struggle to charge my bike. They frequently have sales on this model. It isn't exactly small but I have no problem rolling it around.

What do you think about this one - just 64 lb and works well with rapid 230 V charger. I have been using it to charge my both Altas for 2 years. You can easily load it into your truck by one hand.

We’ve talked about the European generators at length several times, problem always boils down to the cost to import to the US and then it’s only really good for charging the bikes. Certainly would be ideal for the Altas though.

Nice. All things considered that does seem pretty reasonable for something that small that could fast charge. Great information (y)

FYI for anyone that is on the fence about buying the B&S Q6500... I’ve been leaning towards buying one of these and couldn’t resist the Lowes “one-day deal” offer that showed up in my inbox today235B8100-0E67-401B-8AB5-782391E37575.png...

P.S. First post and I really want to thank all the great members here that gave me the confidence to buy my MXR despite lack of any Alta Factory support. So far so good but it’s great to know we have such great support here!

Thats probably the cheapest it's ever been!

Probably good to have an extra generator in hurricane country anyway, whether you have an electric dirt bike or not.

looks like a good deal.

Living in “Hurricane Alley” definitely makes the decision to purchase this as an upgrade much easier. This is actually generator number 3 but I’ll be happy to get rid of the noisiest of the bunch soon after this one arrives.

Yeah, I justified my purchase of a Harbor Freight Predator 4375 to my wife because of rolling blackouts during fire season. Would love to have a bigger inverter generator, though.

I just recently sold my HF Predator 4000 for $150 and bought this Westinghouse 5500watt for $400. Predator 4000 was too unreliable rapid charging my bikes. The Westinghouse is a bit heavier and bigger without a sound penalty, and i can charge an Alta plus run a corded power tool and plug in laptops and cell phones at the same time. You'd probably need a 7000watt continuous generator to charge two Altas on 240v at the same time. Also has a Data Center that displays the voltage and frequency outputs, so you can verify the bike is getting as close to 60hz as possible.
