Injection molding is obviously the best way to go for high volume manufacturing. However, for the qty we're probably talking about here it'd be much easier to simply make a clay mockup of the shrouds on the bike (each side) and splash them to make a mold(s). Then just make them out of carbon fiber. A few weekends invested max. For the most part, any geometry would probably lend itself to this process fairly easily.

Carbon fiber would be pretty fun. Not a lot of weight to be saved, but the cool points would be a big draw!

This was the route I was going, except with fiberglass. After making a master, it's easily cut and then using clay again to fill in the ribs to create a smooth sided shroud with the same mounting points. Then make the master mold out of silicone and do a pressure infused fiberglass or carbon. But if @metallic88 can 3d print the master from his photomodel, you skip the first 3 steps. Just take the 3d print and make the master mold from that. Buying 3d printed parts for something that big would be much more expensive then making a mold for FRP.

yes i can, i have been printing the alta and ktm parts and modeling them but so far i havent got anything i like lol.


How big of a print/build space do you think you would need?

the biggest side is 510mm so you need a big printer(min 450x450x500mm), which mine prints the whole shroud just fine.
