There is a parasitic drain somewhere. This will likely happen repeatedly. The battery is designed to last for ten years in normal use. Unfortunately, with no parts right now, it will be difficult to solve. For a little bit of help, you can actually maneuver the ACM and get the cover off without pulling the battery and all that other stuff.

It says you have to plug the laptop into the bike. We don’t have laptops. Is this necessary?

I just recently got this message on my pretty new 2018 SM with about 500 miles on it. Followed the video and replaced the 9 volt. Not sure why it displayed this as the battery seemed to still have plenty of juice left in it, tested at 9.25 volts vs. new one at 9.78 volts. A lot of work involved in getting to this battery, took me a few hours, no laptop needed, started right back up, good luck!

It was supposed to last 10 years, so they didn’t really make it easily accessible.

For those who have had to replace their 9v... do you know if your bikes have the latest firmware?

The 9v battery goes down with long terms of Ignition on without driving , as we had in the laboratory tests, after two times charging with the fast charger the battery is ok again , seems to be that the bat will be loaded while charging ?! We need urgently a wiring diagramm with all functions to keep or bikes alive :)

Went for a short ride today and the 9 volt message is gone. Charging now to ride with my son on Tuesday at our local arenacross track. He's officially on electric too.
5th birthday present for him. My 2 year old daughter wants to ride pretty bad too. Wife's gonna be ticked when a Stacyc shows up for her.

I'm assuming this is a warning... Any thing major happens when the 9 v is dead-dead (Other than bike won't start)?

The message may be a false flag in some cases. If the voltage drops below a preset level, the warning appears. If the battery was 0v, replacing it should restore function.

Nice... No laptop needed :) (other than watching the YouTube of the arduous task of dismantling the bike to change a wee battery)
